Summertime, and I forget to Blog

Well, I need to update this blog!!

Summer has been wonderful so far! My little family has been to Pocatello, Idaho to visit my sister and her family.  They moved into their new home!  So happy for them. We have also, just in July, been swimming, been to Liberty Park, done a lot of gardening, and playing.

I feel like we are going non-stop.  But finally, yesterday and today, we have some down time.  I love to just relax.  And since I have been relaxing, pre-school is not getting done! :)  However, I am missing my job.  I am ready to get all organized for the upcoming school year.  I am excited to get plans and activities ready for the kids coming in.

I have a full morning class!  I will be having an open house on August 22, 2013.  All the families who have registered are invited, plus any who are interested in seeing the pre-school.  Here's to the new year!! I love preparing and finding new lesson plans.  Have a great week!

We have had an exciting week in preschool.  Tuesday, April 9th, a friend of mine, who teaches self defense and Karate came for a visit.  She and a coworker talked to the kids about stranger danger and self defense.  All the kids just loved getting a turn to kick at a cushion the teachers were holding!  The kids got to "kick, punch, punch", and repeat.  Then we as teachers, would pretend to be a stranger at a grocery store, pick up a child and have them yell, "You are not my mommy,(or daddy) and scream and kick their legs.  It took a while for the kids to warm up and have fun with yelling.  The only time Miss Tammy will let them yell and scream inside the house!  I think it's pretty fun to see them breaking the rules!
Well, S is for stranger danger, spring, sheep, and soup.  We focused mostly on sheep and spring time. For the art project of the week, we glued felt onto blank sheep to give them their "wool". I taught the kids that the soft fur on sheep is called wool, and one girl said to me, "it's called fleece".  I responded yes, we can call it both.  Smart kids!

Well it's past time for me to update, I am still alive!! I have been so busy with the holidays, kids being sick, as is all of Salt Lake City, and running the pre-school.

We are on the letter J this week. J is for jaguars and jellyfish. We made some cute jelly fish out of coffee filters and little paper cups.  It was an idea I found on a website. Super easy too.  The kids just loved gluing the "tenticles" onto the body and I attached a cup to the underside and laced a string through to hold it up.  They turned out well.  I am happy to have creative ideas and creative web sites! We also played matching games, bingo and sang along with "Jack in the Box".

Well, January is cold as ever this year.  We are having inside recesses because I don't want the kids to be wet or frozen.  The snow is great for our land, but bad for little kids who get "cabin fever".  I am excited, already, for the warm weather.  I know, patience is a virtue, I miss the sun!!

Wow, it's August and back to school time!  I am finally planning my back to pre-school open house.  It will be on Thursday Aug. 23 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

I am so excited to start school this fall!  I have a new theme planned out for the year.  We will be learning the ABC's and numbers with "Animals From Around The World".  That means each week your children will learn an animal which begins with the corresponding letter of the alphabet.  It will be a fun, and educational experience every day!

Hope you are all as excited as I am to start anew with school.  Have a fun August and see you in about 22 days!
